Having read one books of the Spiral series already, I knew a little bit about what to expect in this book. Yet I found myself struggling to find solid ground in the beginning chapters. Why? Because the book open with the thoughts of main character Alex, who is a lost man wondering between worlds.Confused and haunted with uncertainty, Alex searches for someone who can explain what has happened and where he is.
The deeper I dove into the book (and the plot) the more I realize that there were still many layers in this story than I had caught on to. Side-stories with in the story that when combine add to the richness and meaning of the original storyline.
By the time I had figured out what's really going on, the plots threads had begun to close up quickly. Leaving me on the outside and revealing to me that I had guessed wrong.
The story ends in such a manner that I believe there will be a sequel. If so I will read it!
I enjoyed this thrilling mystery. I would recommend it to mystery readers who love a challenge.
I will caution that this is not a straight forward read, there are several detours and clues to pick up along Alex’s journey if you want to get to the end with the right answers.
